Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport is the closest airport to the Kadikoy district. People who would like to visit the Asian side of Istanbul, mostly prefer Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport. The transportation is also comfortable from the airport to Kadikoy because Istanbul provides a service which is called “HAVABUS” for different locations.

The service of the airport provides transportation to passengers for the direct locations;

  • From Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Taksim,
  • From Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport to Kadikoy.

Istanbul Airport

İstanbul Airport is located on the European Side of İstanbul. The best option to get to Kadıköy from İstanbul Airport is taking the Havaist Bus Service. The trip takes 120 minutes and costs 38 Turkish Liras(as of August 2021).

Taksim Square

Taksim is located in the European side of Istanbul and there are various transportation options that you will be able to find from Taksim Square to Kadikoy. While you can prefer busses, the most preferred transportation is Yellow Minibuses (Sari Dolmus). You can find the yellow minibusses that you will be able to reach many different areas from Taksim directly in the Taksim Square.

The metro option is also preferred in Taksim and Sishane at the same time. In order to reach Kadıköy from Taksim, follow the metro line M1 to Yenikapı Station and interchange to Marmaray to Ayrılık Çeşmesi which is in Kadıköy District. If you would like to get to Kadıköy Pier, you can take the metro through metro line M4 at the Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station.

Sultanahmet Square

Unfortunately, there is no direct transportation from Sultanahmet to Kadikoy. The most comfortable way is walking to the Marmaray Sirkeci Station and prefer to use the Marmaray and then interchange to metro line M4 in the Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station.

Additionally, you can prefer ferries in order to get to Kadıköy from Eminönü Pier(which is a few minutes walking distance to Sirkeci Marmaray Station).

Uskudar

The bus, train, metro, minibus, and dolmus options are available to get to Kadikoy from Uskudar. But the fastest way is taking the Marmaray to Ayrılık Çeşmesi Station and interchange to metro line M4.

Besiktas

Besiktas is located in the European side of Istanbul and the transportation options are available for bus, ferry, and ferry option is one of the most preferred ways to get to Kadikoy.

History of Kadikoy

The old district Kadikoy which is located in the Asian side of Istanbul was not the land of the Ottoman Empire until 1353 and the founded traces date back to 5500-3500 BC that was the Chalcolithic Period. Sureyya Opera House is also known as Sureyya Cultural Center that is an opera, ballet theatre, and concert hall. The opera house which is located in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul was opened on March 6, 1927. The opera house was designed by Kegham Kavafyan who was an Ottoman Armenian Architect.

Osman Aga Mosque

Nowadays, the Osman Aga Mosque is one of the most known mosques in the Kadikoy district of Istanbul Province. The mosque was built in 1612 by Osman Aga in the reign of Sultan Ahmet I and the transportation options are available for people who would like to visit the Osman Aga Mosque. Istanbul Toy Museum is located in the Goztepe neighborhood of the Kadikoy district. The museum was established on April 23, 2005.
